Intellectual and physical development…

AFTER the assassination of honorable great leaders in the years 1993 and 1994, the responsibility of leading the party was taken over by Hon. Ariyawansa Dissanayake then the President who had done immense from the party inception. He is a scholar,cultured intellectual gentleman and also an engineer. Occupying Chairman and Managing Director post in own construction engineering firm earn a reputation for his excellent service, quality and time target achievement in multimillion projects locally and internationally.

Ariyawansa Dissanayake joined the University of Kent in the United Kingdom to gain further knowledge in political science and graduated a Master Degree in International Relation and Conflict Analysis. In addition he completed a Research Study on practical behavior of unitary government and Federal states. At present he is writing a thesis for his PhD on “International Aid” at The Hua Zhong Normal University in Wuhan,The Peoples Republic of China.

Today, without delay, will join hand in hand with him,
to fill the country desired political gap

The Founders of our party, late Hon. Lalith Athulathmudali, late Hon. Gamini Dissanayake and late Hon. G.M Premachandra, the great human beings, turned the way of a half century Sri Lankan politics to a turning point by chosen the way to fully democracy sacrificed their prestige, wealth and securityon behalf of unarmed unprivileged public who were desperately crying and struggling for the Justice, the equality and the peace.

The scholar late Hon Lalith Athulathmudali retained Sri Lankan symbol in depth at the Oxford University and was one of its best products who later became our Trade and Higher Education Minister. He led to a revolutionary change in the Sri Lankan Education system by introducing the Mahapola Scholarship Programme which supported the poor village children to achieve their higher educational dreams. He was the political leadership for the success of the"Wadamarachchi" Operation.

Hon. Gamini Dissasanayake was the pioneer in re-establishing the five reservoirs that made the way in filling Eastern Granary by Golden Harvest and also with his resourceful knowledgehe developed Mahaweli villages and provided electricity ensuring sustainable development. He was the forerunner behind Sri Lanka Cricket to international Arena.
